“Going through New Gates” in 2008

The Logan Alumni Band will be marching on Friday, September 19. Hopefully, this will not be an inconvenience to any of you. This date change was necessary due to the dedication of the new field on August 22. Enclosed is the Registration Form for this year’s event, which you may submit by mail or electronically.

Deadline for registration is August 15^th

This deadline of Friday, August 15^th will benefit all of you by guaranteeing you an instrument, a place on the field, and the music you need. The Alumni Board will provide the following instruments ONLY: alto horn, baritone, tenor saxophone, sousaphone, and percussion instruments.

Logan Alumni Band/Al Horsky Scholarship Fund

The Logan Alumni Band/Al Horsky Scholarship continues to provide financial assistance for students pursuing music degrees at Ohio University. As you know, this annual scholarship is available through the generous donations of band alumni. We continue to ask your support of this award. Please send checks (payable to The Logan Alumni Band/Al Horsky Scholarship Fund) to Logan Alumni Band, P.O. Box 1090, Logan, Ohio 43138. This year’s recipient was Nicole Egger, who will be entering her first year in the music department this fall. We wish Nicole the very best in her future study.

Alumni Board Elections

The election of board members will be conducted during the meeting on Tuesday, September 16. Nominations will be taken from any attending alumni, while members seeking re-election may also express such an interest. The length of expected service is six years. Current trustees with expiring terms are Marian Gall, Jeff North, and Pam Price. We will also be filling a current vacant position that will serve until 2010.

Financial Help Welcome

As always, contributions to the general fund, which helps to cover office supplies and postage, would be greatly appreciated. Please designate “General Fund” on the check (made payable to Logan Alumni Band).

Please mark your calendars for this year’s Alumni Band during September 16-19. It’s guaranteed to be a wonderful time of making music, renewing past friendships, and creating new ones. I look forward to seeing you as we pass through the new gates at the Logan Chieftain Stadium!
